Veronica is a very hardworking lady who focuses on ensuring that her business does well enough to afford her three children the best education. School fees is her major priority after basic needs and two of her sons go to one of the best primary schools in Molo while the first born son gained admission to a prestigious national high school in the country, she says proudly. She has run a salon for the last six years and before that she was engaged in other small scale businesses to make ends meet. Her salon was for the last five years located in a dark corner behind Molo’s main market. However, in March this year(2020), she made lemonade out of the lemons that the COVID-19 pandemic threw at her by grabbing a building that went vacant when its immediate occupants closed shop.
Her new salon premise is much more spacious and receives enough natural light besides being along the busy hospital-market road and she is taking full advantage of the human traffic this strategic location attracts. She has gone further and created employment for two gifted women who are all too pleased and grateful to get employment at a time when most are losing jobs. The three of them work as a close knit team while observing all precautions to keep safe from Covid-19 while at the same time giving their clients the best.
Veronica is seeking $400 from Moto Hope Micro Lending to invest in her salon business. With the raging pandemic, many customers are reluctant to get into salons unless they are sure all precautionary measures have been put in place. With the money, Veronica will be able to buy more masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectant, install a better hand washing point, and buy more seats to enable her to ensure social distance inside and outside the salon. She also intends to purchase a wide variety of hair and beauty products so her clients can find all their beauty needs under one roof.
