Business: Second hand winter wear
Location: Molo Town
Years in Operation: 1 Year
Amount needed: $100
The long rains season has rendered Molo town colder than usual and this has been a blessing in disguise for the young Thomas Momanyi who trades in second hand woolen trench coats. Thomas started the business a year ago and has been doing good business since his target market is generally a cold place giving his venture momentum. He buys a bale of the trench coats on fortnight basis from Nairobi and sells them at a price of between $50-$70 each.
He has won the loyalty of many who view him as a hardworking and honest young man striving to make ends meet. He sells a wide range of trench coats for men, women and children. His customers love the used branded western coats which they find to not only be warm, but long lasting and trendy.
Thomas is seeking $100 from MHML to be able to increase his stock. He wants to meet the ever growing demand for his coats and attract more customers. In addition to his open air space in Molo town, Thomas goes out to other markets in the outskirts of Molo town in order to clear his stock faster. His business enables him to support his parents as well as pay college fees for his wife.
