Simon Igunza is a young man of admirable determination and taste for success. He is a trained primary school teacher who refuses to be weighed down by the fact that he still hasn’t succeeded in gaining government employment. While he hopes and waits to be employed to teach, he continues to run a retail shop that serves many dwellers in Bonde area of Kitale. This, coupled with earnings from the sale of his maize harvest from his maize farm that lies on six acres of land enable him to provide the needs of his young family of one wife and child.
The retail shop he runs with his wife has scaled commendably in the four years that it has been in business, so much so that he is putting up bigger space to accommodate the expansion. He is currently constructing a building that will house the shop and his home right behind it for efficiency and convenience. This will enable him to save more in the long run which will translate to more investments, and largely reduce his expenses both at home and in the shop for he won’t be paying any rent for both facilities; his house and shop unit.
He is seeking $1500 from MHML to be able to purchase more stock for his new shop so as to meet all of his customers’ demand as well as sustain his business’ consistent growth. The shop and the farm he says are co-dependent and the success of one is sure to assure the success of the other.
