Business: Fruits & Vegetable Vendor.
Location:
Main Market, Molo.
Years in Operation:
1Year six months.
Amount needed:
$250.

Rael’s name is known throughout the market. The fact that she has only been in it for the last one a half years notwithstanding. She is such a happy soul and her never drying smile easily rubs off on people. Many buy at her stall for the simple fact that she is very friendly and accommodating. She serves her customers with so much joy and never forgets to thank them for choosing to buy from her. This, added to her good quality fruits and vegetables have earned her quite the market share of customers.

The dotting mother of two school going children is usually among the first people to open shop every morning. She makes sure to purchase her stock early enough so as to meet her customers’ demand. She buys her stock from suppliers in Nakuru Farmers’ market as well as from Molo farmers directly from their farms . She always makes a point to buy the freshest and best quality produce. Proceeds from her business enable her to pay the school fees of her children, pay her bills and provide her family with their basic needs.

Besides running the stall at the market, Rael also practices small holder farming . She grows maize, potatoes and peas, solely for her family’s consumption. However, when times are hard, she says, she is forced to sell the produce alongside her stock in the market to increase earnings from the sales she makes.

She is seeking $250 from Moto Hope micro Lending to boost her business. With the funds, she will increase the stock of both fruits and vegetables , especially both green and ripe bananas which are in high demand.
