Business: Second hand clothes
Location: Molo Town
Years in Operation: 5 Years
Amount needed: $200
For the past five years, Petronilla has dressed her loyal customers who are majorly children and women. She trades at the open air market popularly known as “the rail” in Molo town. The earnings from her small venture combined with those of her husband have seen their three children through school and put food on their table as well as provide all their essential needs. Besides clothes selling, she also engages in smallholder agribusiness ventures trading in the cereals she harvests.
Competition has however grown tougher and the struggle to maintain clients has led to some of her customers shifting to traders with trendier and better quality clothes. This is a fact Petronilla has decided to face head on and thus sought MHML to give her the vital business boost to stay in business. She is seeking $200 to improve her clothes stock.
Petronilla wants to venture into trendier clothes for the women and a variety of sizes for the children. She also wants to buy in bulk from her suppliers in Nairobi in order to enjoy economies of scale which will in turn ensure that she sets pocket friendly prices to compete favorably with other traders in the market. She is very determined and optimistic that the funds will put her name back on the lead at “the rail” and grow her business to the heights she envisioned five years ago.
