Nancy Wangui Kihoro is a hardworking mother of six children who believes in giving her children the best life that she can offer. For the last fifteen years, she and her husband have toiled hard to ensure that their family has all the basic needs and the children go to school. She has an acre of tea plantation and two and a half acres of maize. They trade their harvest and earn a living through the profits. In addition, maize being a staple food in Kenya, this family is assured of food security in and out of season for they get maize for their own domestic consumption as well, from their maize farm.
Nancy is seeking $300 to facilitate the expansion of her agribusiness venture. She wants to venture into inter-cropping, which is regarded as an important agricultural practice to improve crop production and environmental quality. She will use it to buy beans seeds and fertilizer. Inter-cropping maize and beans will ensure the optimal use of her land as well as increase in yield which will in turn lead to more sales, more profits and better farming practices due to availability of funds to invest.
This couple believe in the reward of hard work, proper planning and their desire to thrive and are ready to go any extra mile to ensure their contribution to the country’s bread basket as well as their own prosperity.
