When Mirriam failed to secure a space to set her eatery, she did not give up on her desired venture. Her plan was to sell food and selling she would venue notwithstanding. For four years now, Mirriam has been making a variety of finger licking delicacies in the comfort of her home kitchen and packaging them while hot to reach her customers in the desired state.
She has created employment for one woman who helps her to meet all the orders. They make such a formidable team dividing duties between themselves ensuring meals are ready in time. They provide a variety of dishes; breakfast, tea breaks and lunches for their target customers who include; construction workers, Jua Kali artisans, market traders, hawkers and other business and office workers.
Their customers are a happy lot for they get their meals delivered right where they are which serves a welcome convenience, this added to the fact that the food is tasty, nutritious and affordable has won her the loyalty of many. Maintaining her clientele has been a walk in the park for her. For as long as they are happy, she is in business, she quips.
The food business is very friendly she says, unlike the second hand shoes and clothes business that she engaged in before . The clothes and shoes is a largely seasonal business but hunger has no seasons she happily says for demand is always there. The challenge is to have enough supplies to satiate her hungry customers all the time and ensure the food is in proper, healthy and hygienic condition .
She is seeking $150 to be able to buy more stock of dry food stuffs to meet all the demand she faces as well as more durable and larger food containers to ease storage and transportation . With the money she will increase her sales thus earn more income which will allow her to comfortably provide for the education of her three school going children as well as their needs.
