Business: Vegetable and Fruit Vendor.
Location: Tayari, Molo.
Years in Operation:  3 Years.
Amount needed : $50.

Margaret Kemunto is a hardworking mother of five children two who are school going. Her temporary business premise of a table and stool, where she displays her wares, has sat along the Molo-Mau Road in Tayari, for the last three years earning her loyal customers.

She is easy to find as all her neighbors and people who frequent the route know her voice and love her friendliness. Margaret sells vegetables and fruits from her farm as well as from Kisii town where she buys directly from farmers.

She has engaged the collection and delivery services of one of the farmers in Kisii who sends the produce through a trusted public service vehicle at relatively low costs. This enables her to save on time and money as she no longer has to travel all the way all the time as she did at the early stages of her trade. This has assured fresh and quality products which keeps her customers coming back for more.

Besides her roadside stall, she is also a farmer who specializes in potato, peas and maize farming that she also sells after harvest. In her younger days she worked for the Pyre-thrum Board in Molo before her early retrenchment, upon which she ventured into wholesale cereal distribution to schools and markets. The mentioned saw her three children through school and she currently pays for the tuition of her two younger children with proceeds from her vegetable and fruits, as well as farm produce trade.

In addition, she owns one dairy cow and chicken in her very neat and well cared for home. She has refused to be solely dependent on her eldest son who helps her financially  once in a while and continues to engage in self empowering and advancing ventures.

She is seeking $50 to add onto her savings so that she can expand her business by adding more stock and putting up a better stall. This she says will enable her to serve more homes with her nutritious vegetables and fruits as well as improve her earnings to ensure that her children never lack.
