Grace’s shop despite being so tiny is very well stocked with the fast moving goods that she sells, key among them being trays of eggs, carrier bags, diapers, sweets, among other general goods. She has practiced the business for the last four years and is encouraged by all the growth that her business has recorded over the years. When plastic carrier bags were banned in the country, Grace grabbed at the alternative carrier bags gap in the market and went all in stocking a myriad of sizes, qualities and sizes of alternative bags. She quickly found market for them as they were and still are demanded by everyone. She supplies them on wholesale basis to kiosks, shops and market sellers.
The eggs business is also doing really well and she gets large orders from schools as well as businesses. She acquires the eggs stock from select poultry farmers from Molo and its environs making sure to only select from farmers who practice safe and healthy poultry farming practices. Besides supplying to schools in Molo on set days of the week, Grace also supplies eggs to businesses in Molo as well as some in towns neighboring Molo such as Londiani, Keringet and Muchorwe.
Grace has learned to be as flexible as possible, stocking goods that are demanded by her customers at whatever time. For instance, she stocks printing paper when school is in session and is quick to get tenders to supply to schools that have eventually become his loyal customers within Molo. She however prefers to sell on cash basis from the shop as some of these tender payments are overly delayed curtailing the running of her business.
She is seeking $200 from Moto Hope Micro Lending to be able to boost the eggs stock at the shop whose demand has shot up and supply in the market gone down alarmingly. She has found new suppliers for the eggs and is not about to lose the opportunity for constant reliable supply during this low supply season. The school teacher has employed a lady who helps to run things whenever she is at school teaching. The business enables she and her husband who handles supply and delivery to other towns to provide for their family’s needs and educate their school going child.
