Faith’s desire was to start a business that would challenge her and make her learn many things while at it, she says. She settled on selling mobile phones and phone accessories because the field was mostly dominated by men when she got into it. She believed she could and nothing has stopped her since. She has made a point to learn as much as possible about new phone technology especially for the low cost phones that she stocks. She brings in the latest trends that her customers are only too eager to purchase. She provides her buyers with all the information they need about any device she sells to them. She patiently teaches new users how to use them and sells only phones from renown suppliers making sure the devices have at least a year’s warranty from their makers.
Besides the shop, she and her husband are also involved in farming growing peas for sale. Their combined earnings enable them to pay for the school fees of their two school going children, one in high school and the other at a medical training college. Faith is very passionate about her shop; she doesn’t imagine engaging in any other economic activity. She has an MPESA mobile money transfer Agency housed at the shop as well. The MPESA serves as an additional business bringing in income through commissions and also complements her business for customers are able to withdraw money or pay for the products that she stocks, via MPESA.
She is seeking $300 from Moto Hope Micro Lending to be able to stock mobile phone accessories. With the money she will be able to order (of Headphones, Bluetooth Speakers, Headsets, Charging Stations, Power Bank and Receiver Adapters) to meet her customers’ demand.
