Eunice Wanjiku Kariuki is a pleasant and hard working mother of two school-going children whom she dots on and is eager to see healthy, well provided for and receiving the best education. To earn a living, she runs a retail shop in the busy Makutano Center which enjoys quite the market share of loyal customers. She buys her stock from Kitale town’s wholesalers which allow her to enjoy economies of scale and many after sales services which she transfers to her customers through good prices and perfect customer care.
Back home, she is a mother keen to save every coin she can for the future and further investments. In January 2018, when Moto Hope Micro Lending presented our energy saving jiko to her, she did not hesitate to buy it. She was eager to save on the huge amounts of money she was losing on charcoal fuel. The promise of an affordable energy saving jiko was music to her ears. She quickly bought the jiko and is all too glad she did.
With the jiko, she is able to save a full bag of charcoal every two months. Before when she used the normal jiko she would exhaust a bag of charcoal which goes for $10 every month. However, with our energy saving jiko she is able to save up to $60 annually, money that she is now able to put into other uses like buying groceries and paying a few utility bills. The constant coughs that would attack her children have thankfully disappeared as well she says, for the jiko cuts on the amount of smoke emitted protecting she and her children from respiratory problems. This jiko is a worthy investment she nods happily.
