Mr. Eliud Muraya Maina is a young man from Makutano village in Kitale who enjoys seeing the work of his hands literally turn to fruition. For the last three years, he has known no other economic activity but tilling the land, planting seeds and seedlings and tending the crop to maturity, upon which after harvest he can finally enjoy the rewards of his hard work.
Eliud engages in horticultural farming, going with whatever is in high demand at the time and also whatever the seasons favor. When he first visited Moto Hope Micro Lending in 2018, a loan of $120 was advanced to him. He invested the money in agribusiness growing tomatoes for sale. He reaped profits two fold and was so encouraged by the fact that the MHML working capital financing was so easy to pay back.
Currently, his farmland boasts of a very healthy crop of French beans. So far everything looks very promising and he expects a good harvest in a month’s time. He is seeking $170 to enable the harvesting process to go on smoothly when the time comes. With the money he will be able to afford the labor he will need to assist in harvesting. It will also cover transportation costs to the market among other miscellaneous expenditures.
Agribusiness is paying his utility bills and enabling him to save for the future. He is preparing his financial nest beforehand so that by the time he has a family of his own he can comfortably provide for them and is optimistic that his agribusiness will have scaled upwards.
