Benson is in the business of buying and selling of cattle in Sibanga, a small town in Kitale. He has been operating the business for 7 years now and he is comfortably able to support his family from income generated from the business. Usually, there is a market day for cattle once per week in Sibanga. Many traders converge in this small village to do business and this has been a tradition since time immemorial. The cattle are mostly bought by people in Kitale town operating commercial butcheries which supply meat to the entire town.
Benson is able to buy cattle from farmers whose average price is $300 per cattle and transport them to the market every Friday. Usually, Benson is able to sell all the cattle every Friday since the demand is high.
Benson wants to increase the number of cows he buys every week in order to increase his sales. To do this, Benson needs $1,200 to supplement his capital to be able to trade at least 10 cows every week. This will increase his monthly sales and he intends to save enough money to enable him open up a butchery in his locality.
